Mia L. McIver is a faculty member in the English departments of Loyola Marymount University and the University of California, Irvine. She received an undergraduate degree from Duke University and a doctorate from UC Irvine. 
She has lived all over the U.S. and traveled solo throughout Europe, Australia and the South Pacific, Southeast Asia, the Indian Subcontinent, and Central and South America. Her work as a playwright has been produced in several regional theaters. She is happiest when there are books at hand and friends around the table, and there are usually plenty of both.
